Wedding Dress Cleaning and Preservation

Preservation1_edited.jpg

I offer a bespoke, one to one cleaning and preservation service. I use the same preservation techniques use in museums.  Unlike online retailers, I will discuss with you the requirements and will have a good look at your dress checking for damage, identifying stains and estimate what is required and the cost for my services.
I understand textile manufacturing and properties and have over 20 years of experience cleaning and dealing with different type of fabrics. I only use hand washing techniques to clean your garments with as little chemicals as possible to avoid any further damage to the fabric of your dress.
Just a book a no obligation appointment and I will be happy to discuss your requirements with you.

My passion is ensuring your garment, or wedding dress fits your body like a glove and sculpted to your body. You will not leave my studio without a garment that fits you 100% perfect, like it was design for you only! I give as much love and dedication to the detail on these as I do on everything I make. Whether that’s raising the hem, adding a bustle or taking it in a whole dress size, the fittings and alterations process is essential to making sure you have the perfect wedding dress.

Throughout my career, I have been asked to do many different alterations; the more complex they are, the more excited I become!  From the bride who asked for the lace from her mother’s dress to be incorporated into her gown to the bride that used her sister-in-law dress 2 sizes larger and needed replacement of some of the linings. It really is just the most incredible feeling when you do produce that dream.

I can alter dresses to fit non-standard shapes as well as realising the dreams of everyone who want a special dress costume.

How does it work?

Just book a free no obligation appointment and I walk you through your options, most of the time I will reveal fittings issue that you did not realise until our first appointment. I will then send you a quote and you will approve it digitally before carrying out the alterations. I usually ask for you to make an appointment at least 2 months before the event, however, depending on availability, I can take urgent work for a small surcharge.

Book a no obligation design consultation with me and feel free to bring images of the sort of gown you would like – a sketch, a photograph, a magazine pic, or a board you have created. I will make a rough sketch and offer suggestions on the style and fit which will best suit your shape. I will also advise you on the sort of fabric and lace needed. I am a fashion designer in my own right and will not make exact copies of other designer’s gowns
I will also take all your measurements to get an exact fit of your body shape so she can create a toile – the first version of your gown – which she will make in calico or linen.
The next stage is the toile fitting. You will be invited back into the boutique to try on the toile and the dress can be expertly altered to fit you perfectly. At this stage we talk about the shape of the neckline, the back and all other aspects and details which will make your wedding dress truly unique and beautiful.
After receiving the chosen fabric, it will be cut using the toile as a pattern. The fabric can be something you have found yourself or you can sit with me and select possible fabrics from one of our supplier’s sample books, making the experience even more personal. I will be available to advise you on the weight of the fabric and the sort of lace that would work best.
At the next fitting, your dress will still be in its rough form and more alterations and tweaking can be made until you are 100% happy that the dress fits you perfectly. We can put extra structure into the bodice at this stage to give you the support and look you require.
After the final fitting your dress will be ready to take home – a very special moment when everything comes together! We can still make some minor alterations at this stage so don’t worry – we won’t let you walk out of the boutique until you are absolutely in love with your dress!
All the fittings are included in the quote. You will have to pay for your own fabric, lace and other bits but we can advise you on how to keep these costs within your budget. We will ask for a 50% deposit when you are sure you want to go ahead with our bespoke service and the balance is due when you are 100% happy and ready to take your dress home.
